Joanna Shields, Baroness Shields

Joanna Shields, Baroness Shields, is a British-American technology executive and a life peer in the House of Lords. Born in Pennsylvania, she built a significant career in the technology sector, holding leadership roles at companies including Google, Bebo, Facebook, and BenevolentAI. In 2014, she was elevated to the peerage and subsequently served as the United Kingdom’s first Minister for Internet Safety and Security. Her political work has centered on digital policy, online safety, and the protection of children from digital harms. She currently serves as the Executive Chair of the Responsible AI Future Foundation and continues to advise on AI strategy and policy.
