
Jock Stirrup

Jock Stirrup, Baron Stirrup, is a British peer and former senior Royal Air Force commander. He served as the Chief of the Defence Staff from 2006 until his retirement in 2010, overseeing significant military commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan. A former jet pilot who saw action in the Dhofar War, he held various high-level command positions, including Chief of the Air Staff. Since 2011, he has served as a Crossbench member of the House of Lords and was appointed a Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter in 2013.
