John Barrett III is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 1st Berkshire District, a position he has held since 2017. He previously served as the mayor of North Adams for twenty-six years, from 1984 to 2009, where he was recognized for his efforts to revitalize the local economy following the closure of Sprague Electric and his support for the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Barrett currently chairs the House Committee on Ethics and has a long history of public service in the Berkshire region.
