John Wiley Bryant is an American politician currently serving as a member of the Texas House of Representatives for the 114th district, a position he has held since 2023. Previously, he represented Texas's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 to 1997 and served in the Texas House from 1974 to 1983. During his congressional tenure, he acted as a House impeachment manager in the trial of Judge Alcee Hastings. After a long hiatus from politics, Bryant returned to office in 2022, focusing his recent legislative efforts on opposing housing density reforms and single-family zoning changes.
