John McDonnell

John McDonnell is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Hayes and Harlington since 1997. A prominent figure on the left wing of the Labour Party, he served as Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2015 to 2020 under Jeremy Corbyn. Throughout his career, McDonnell has been a vocal advocate for socialist economic policies, including increased public infrastructure spending and the implementation of a land value tax. He is a member of the Socialist Campaign Group and has long been involved in trade union advocacy and local community campaigns, notably opposing the expansion of Heathrow Airport.
