John Richard C. King is an American politician currently serving as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives for the 49th District, a position he has held since 2009. A member of the Democratic Party, King has an extensive background in public service, having previously served as a Chester city councilman and a county councilman. In addition to his legislative duties, where he serves as the 2nd Vice Chair of the House Judiciary Committee and a member of the House Ethics Committee, he is a funeral director and a professor at Clinton College. He is also an active member of the National Black Caucus of State Legislatures.
