John Woodcock, Baron Walney is a British politician and life peer who has served in the House of Lords since 2020. Previously, he was the Labour Co-op Member of Parliament for Barrow and Furness from 2010 to 2019, later sitting as an independent. A former political adviser to Gordon Brown and John Hutton, Woodcock held various shadow ministerial roles before becoming a vocal critic of Jeremy Corbyn's leadership. He served as the UK government's independent adviser on political violence and disruption from 2020 until 2025.
