Joji Yamamoto

Joji Yamamoto is a Japanese politician, journalist, and former home helper currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the Reiwa Shinsengumi party. He previously served two terms as a Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly member and was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1996. Following a conviction for fraud in 2000, he spent time in prison, where he became an advocate for the rights of disabled inmates and social welfare reform. His experiences led to the publication of his acclaimed book 'Gokumado-ki' (Prison Window Record). After returning to politics, he has focused on social welfare, criminal justice reform, and support for the reintegration of former inmates into society. He currently serves as the Secretary-General and Diet Affairs Committee Chair for his party.
