Josette Manin is a French politician from Martinique who currently serves as a member of the Assembly of Martinique. A former bank executive, she began her political career in 1983 as a municipal councilor in Le Lamentin. She made history as the first woman to serve as President of the General Council of Martinique, holding the position from 2011 to 2015, and later became the first woman elected as a deputy for Martinique in the French National Assembly, serving from 2017 to 2022. Throughout her career, she has been a vocal advocate for environmental and social issues, including addressing the impact of pesticide poisoning in the West Indies and criticizing cuts to public education.
