June Rowlands

June Rowlands was a Canadian politician who served as the 60th mayor of Toronto from 1991 to 1994, becoming the first woman to hold the office. Prior to her mayoralty, she served as a city councillor and as the chair of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Commission. Her political career was marked by a focus on law and order, and she was a prominent figure in Toronto municipal politics throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Following her defeat in the 1994 mayoral election, she retired from public life until her death in 2017.
