Koji Yonezawa is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Tsuruga City in Fukui Prefecture. Born in Tsuruga, he holds a Master's degree in Science and Engineering from the University of Tsukuba. Before entering politics, he worked for Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd., served as a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, and was employed by a company related to nuclear power generation. He began his political career as a member of the Tsuruga City Council in 2015, where he chaired several committees. After an unsuccessful bid for mayor in 2019, he was elected as the Mayor of Tsuruga in 2023.
