Kathiravelu Shanmugam Kugathasan is a Sri Lankan politician and social activist serving as a Member of Parliament for the Trincomalee District since July 2024. A long-time member of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi, he previously held leadership roles in the Gandhiyam Movement and co-founded the Organization for Eelam Refugees Rehabilitation (OfERR) in India. Following a period of exile in Canada, where he worked in education and immigrant settlement, he returned to Sri Lanka to focus on regional development and political advocacy.
