Kaname Tsutsumi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Onojo City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Before her election as mayor in 2025, she served as a member of the House of Representatives for two terms and as a member of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly for three terms. An academic by background, she previously worked as a university professor specializing in gender studies and established several non-profit organizations focused on supporting women and children. Throughout her political career, she has been a vocal advocate for gender equality, the introduction of selective separate surnames for married couples, and the promotion of LGBTQ+ rights.
