Yoshiyuki Araki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Koshi City in Kumamoto Prefecture. Born in 1958, he began his career in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department before transitioning into politics. He served four terms as a member of the Kumamoto Prefectural Assembly, during which he was affiliated with the Liberal Democratic Party. In 2010, he was elected Mayor of Koshi City as an independent and has since been re-elected multiple times. He is noted for his decisive administrative actions, including the 2021 decision to terminate a partnership agreement with DHC following the company's discriminatory remarks against ethnic Koreans in Japan.
