Karen Lewis Young

Karen Lewis Young is an American politician serving as a member of the Maryland Senate for District 3 since 2023. Previously, she served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2015 to 2023, where she and her husband, Ronald N. Young, became the first husband-and-wife team to serve simultaneously in the Maryland General Assembly. A former financial professional with experience at firms like Citibank and American Express, she holds degrees from Franklin & Marshall College and Columbia University. In the legislature, Lewis Young has focused on healthcare reform, including the Patients' Bill of Rights and abuse-deterrent painkiller legislation, as well as environmental protection, education funding, and public transit expansion.
