Karim Badawi is an Egyptian politician and engineer currently serving as the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Prior to his appointment, he held various senior leadership roles at Schlumberger, including Director of New Energy for the Middle East and North Africa and President of Schlumberger in Egypt, Sudan, and the Eastern Mediterranean. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo, as well as an MBA from Erasmus University Rotterdam. His career has focused on digital transformation, energy efficiency, carbon emission reduction, and strategic investment in the oil and gas sector.
