Kathrin Michel is a German politician and trade unionist who has served as a Member of the German Bundestag for Saxony since 2021. Prior to her parliamentary career, she spent nearly four decades working for the chemical company BASF in Schwarzheide. In addition to her legislative duties, where she serves on the Budget Committee and its Subcommittee on European Affairs, she has acted as co-chair of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in Saxony since 2021. Michel was also involved in the 2021 coalition negotiations regarding climate and energy policy and serves on the board of the German Foundation for Active Citizenship and Volunteering.
