Kazuo Suzuki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Shirakawa in Fukushima Prefecture. A graduate of Waseda University's Faculty of Law, he previously held various administrative positions within the Fukushima Prefectural Government, including serving as the Director of the Soso Regional Promotion Bureau and the Director of the Public Enterprise Bureau. First elected as mayor in 2007 following the death of his predecessor, he has since been re-elected multiple times, currently serving his fifth term. During his tenure, he has focused on local governance and crisis management, notably implementing salary reductions for municipal officials to secure funding for COVID-19 countermeasures.
