Eiji Kidoguchi is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors. Born in Hanamaki, Iwate, he began his career as a secretary to Ichiro Ozawa and later served as a member of the Iwate Prefectural Assembly and as a policy secretary to Iwate Governor Takuya Tasso. Kidoguchi was first elected to the House of Councillors in 2016 and has since been re-elected, including a return to office in a 2024 by-election. Politically, he is known for his opposition to constitutional revision, particularly Article 9, and has expressed support for selective married surnames and the introduction of a gender quota system.
