Ayano Kunimitsu is a Japanese politician, physician, and medical doctor currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. A graduate of Nagasaki University School of Medicine, she previously worked as a bureaucrat in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, focusing on disaster medicine and public health. Since her first election in 2017, she has held various government roles, including State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications. Her policy work centers on healthcare reform, including the expansion of childbirth subsidies, support for elderly individuals living alone, and the promotion of medical device innovation. She is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and has been active in committees related to social security, foreign affairs, and constitutional reform.
