Megumi Maekawa is a Japanese politician, culinary researcher, and essayist currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. After spending her teenage years in California, she established a cooking school and became active in food culture promotion, food safety, and food loss reduction initiatives. She was first elected to the Diet in 2014 representing the Liberal Democratic Party. Throughout her career, she has focused on food education, internet safety, and the protection of individuals from online harassment, having founded organizations such as the Council for Thinking about Internet Damage. Following a period out of office, she was re-elected to the House of Representatives in 2026 representing the North Kanto proportional block.
