宮下宗一郎

Soichiro Miyashita is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Governor of Aomori Prefecture. Before his election as governor in 2023, he served three terms as the Mayor of Mutsu City, following a career as a bureaucrat in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. During his tenure as mayor, he gained national attention for his outspoken criticism of the central government's 'Go To' travel campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic, which he characterized as a potential human-induced disaster. A graduate of Tohoku University, Miyashita is known for his independent political stance and focus on regional development.
