塩田康一

Koichi Shiota is the Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture, currently serving his second term. Born in Kagoshima City, he graduated from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law before embarking on a long career as a bureaucrat at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). During his career, he held various significant positions, including Director of the Hitoyoshi Tax Office, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Italy, and Director-General of the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry. He was first elected as Governor of Kagoshima in 2020 and secured re-election in 2024 with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, and the Democratic Party for the People. His administration focuses on regional development and economic revitalization, and he is known for his commitment to public service and local governance.
