Koichi Shiota is the Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture, currently serving his second term. During his career, he held various significant positions, including Director of the Hitoyoshi Tax Office, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Italy, and Director-General of the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry. He was first elected as Governor of Kagoshima in 2020 and secured re-election in 2024 with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, and the Democratic Party for the People.
