Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk

Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk is a Polish politician who has served as the Mayor of Częstochowa since 2010. A graduate of the Częstochowa University of Technology, he previously served as a member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm) from 2007 to 2010 and as a member of the Częstochowa City Council. Politically, he is associated with the Democratic Left Alliance (now the New Left) and is known for his moderate, centrist-leaning approach within the left-wing spectrum. During his tenure as mayor, he has focused on local development and social initiatives, including the implementation of municipal in vitro fertilization funding programs. In February 2026, he was suspended from his official duties following corruption allegations, though he remains the elected mayor.
