Kurt Dannenberg is a German politician and former Bundeswehr officer who has served as the Lord Mayor of Gera, Thuringia, since July 2024. Before his election as mayor, he served as the city's deputy mayor and first full-time municipal official from 2014 to 2024. A member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Dannenberg previously had a distinguished military career, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and serving as a lead engineer for the ISAF contingent in Afghanistan. He holds an engineering degree from the Helmut Schmidt University and a master's degree in international and European security policy from the University of Geneva.
