A member of the Republican Party, he previously represented New York's 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023 and served in the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2014. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Zeldin is known for his conservative policy positions, including support for deregulation and opposition to cash bail reform.
