Markwayne Mullin is an American politician and businessman currently serving as the ninth United States Secretary of Homeland Security. A member of the Cherokee Nation, he previously represented Oklahoma's second congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2013 to 2023 and served as a U.S. Senator for Oklahoma from 2023 to 2026. Before his political career, Mullin managed his family's plumbing business and was a professional mixed martial arts fighter. He is known for his conservative political stance and his historic status as the first tribal citizen to serve in the U.S. Senate since 2005 and the first member of the Cherokee Nation to serve in the Cabinet of the United States.
