Leon Bignell is an Australian politician and former journalist who served as a member of the South Australian House of Assembly for the electoral district of Mawson from 2006 to 2026. A member of the Australian Labor Party, he held various ministerial portfolios in the Weatherill cabinet between 2013 and 2018, including Minister for Tourism and Minister for Recreation and Sport. In 2024, he briefly served as the Speaker of the South Australian House of Assembly, a role that required him to sit as an independent. Bignell, who is aligned with the Labor Party's left faction, announced his retirement from politics in late 2025 and was subsequently appointed as the Agent-General for South Australia.
