Lies van Aelst

Lies van Aelst is a Dutch politician serving as a member of the Senate of the Netherlands since February 2024. A member of the Socialist Party, she previously served on the Provincial Council of South Holland from 2007 to 2024 and on the Gorinchem Municipal Council between 2017 and 2018. Van Aelst holds a background in history, having completed a research master in early modern intellectual history at Erasmus University Rotterdam. In the Senate, she contributes to committees focused on infrastructure, agriculture, social affairs, and health.
