Appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury in May 2026, she previously held roles as Solicitor General for England and Wales and Economic Secretary to the Treasury. Before her parliamentary career, Rigby was a partner at the law firm Hausfeld & Co LLP, specializing in competition and consumer law, and served as a councillor for the London Borough of Islington. She is a King's Counsel and has been recognized for her work in competition litigation.
