Maarten Poorter

Maarten Poorter is a Dutch politician and administrator who has served as the Mayor of Dijk en Waard since July 2022. Born in Nijkerk in 1978, he studied organizational sociology and political science at the University of Amsterdam and The New School in New York. Before his mayoral appointment, Poorter was a municipal councilor in Amsterdam and served as the district chair of Amsterdam-Oost. He also founded and directed the consultancy firm TAQT for fifteen years and worked as a researcher and lecturer in political science.
