Manka Dhingra

Manka Dhingra is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the Washington State Senate, representing the 45th legislative district since 2017. Born in Bhopal, India, she immigrated to the United States as a teenager and later became the first Sikh elected to any state legislature in the country. Before her legislative career, Dhingra worked as a Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for King County, where she focused on mental health and veterans courts. A member of the Democratic Party, she has held leadership roles in the Senate, including deputy majority leader and chair of the Behavioral Health Subcommittee. Her policy work has frequently centered on mental health advocacy and criminal justice reform.
