María José Pizarro Rodríguez is a Colombian politician, artist, and activist currently serving as a Senator of Colombia. Born in Bogotá, she spent much of her childhood in exile due to the political activities of her father, Carlos Pizarro Leongómez, a former guerrilla leader. Before entering politics, she worked as a plastic artist and with the National Center for Historical Memory. Elected to the Chamber of Representatives in 2018 and the Senate in 2022, she is a prominent advocate for peace, historical memory, and progressive politics.
