Martin Romualdez is a Filipino politician, lawyer, and businessman who has served as the representative for Leyte's first district since 2019, having previously held the seat from 2007 to 2016. A member of the prominent Romualdez family and a cousin of President Bongbong Marcos, he served as the 28th Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2022 until his resignation in 2025. Throughout his career, he has been a key political figure, managing the vice-presidential campaign of Sara Duterte and leading the Lakas-CMD party. His tenure as Speaker was marked by significant legislative initiatives, including the creation of the Maharlika Investment Fund, as well as controversies regarding constitutional reform efforts and allegations of corruption related to flood-control projects.
