Marty Deacon is a Canadian politician and educator who has served as a member of the Senate of Canada representing Ontario since her appointment by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2018. Before entering the Senate, she had a distinguished career in education and amateur sports, serving as a school teacher and administrator within the Waterloo Region District School Board. Deacon is widely recognized for her leadership in the sporting community, having served as Canada’s chef de mission for the 2010 Commonwealth Games and holding director roles with the Canadian Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Canada. She is a recipient of the International Olympic Committee's Education and Youth Award for her contributions to the field.
