Mary Butler is an Irish politician who has served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Waterford constituency since 2016. She currently holds the position of Government Chief Whip, having assumed the role in January 2025, and previously served as Minister of State at the Department of Health with responsibility for Mental Health and Older People starting in 2020. Before her election to the Dáil, she was a member of the Waterford City and County Council from 2014 to 2016. Throughout her career, Butler has been noted for her opposition to the legalization of abortion in Ireland and her advocacy for issues related to dementia and healthcare.
