Masaaki Kizu is a Japanese politician and Buddhist monk who has served as the Mayor of Misato in Saitama Prefecture since 2006. Born in 1946, he is the son of former Misato Mayor Saburo Kizu. After graduating from Taisho University, he worked for the Misato municipal government for nearly three decades, holding various administrative roles before entering local politics. He served three terms as a member of the Misato City Council starting in 1997. Following his election as mayor in 2006, he has been re-elected four times, overseeing the city's development for two decades. In June 2026, he announced his intention to retire at the end of his current term.
