Masahiro Matsumoto is a Japanese politician who served as the Mayor of Minamishimabara in Nagasaki Prefecture for three terms. Born in 1948 in the former town of Kazusa, he began his political career as a member of the Kazusa Town Council in 1995. Following the municipal merger that created Minamishimabara, he served as a city council member before being elected mayor in 2014, following a scandal involving his predecessor. He was re-elected in 2018 and 2022, but was defeated in the 2026 mayoral election.
