Masato Nakamura is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Uruma in Okinawa Prefecture. Born in 1965 in the former Gushikawa City, he began his political career as a member of the Gushikawa City Council in 1998. Following the municipal merger that created Uruma City, he served four terms as a city council member. Nakamura has been affiliated with various political groups, including the regional party Seito Sozo and the Japan Innovation Party, before being elected mayor in 2021 with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito. He was re-elected to a second term in 2025.
