Masayoshi Hashizume is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Shima, Mie Prefecture. Born in 1975, he previously worked in the family business, Hisamasa, a seafood processing company, where he eventually served as president. Before his election as mayor, he was active in the local Junior Chamber and served two terms as a member of the Shima City Council starting in 2016. He was first elected mayor in 2020 with support from the Liberal Democratic Party and the Constitutional Democratic Party, and he was re-elected unopposed in 2024. He is a member of the Ryoma Project, a group of local leaders focused on regional revitalization.
