Maurice West

Maurice A. West II is an American politician serving as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 67th district, a position he has held since 2019. Before his election, he worked as the director of career development at Rockford University and served on the Community Action Agency Board. In the legislature, West has been a vocal advocate for educational reform, notably sponsoring legislation to restrict the use of Native American mascots in schools and mandating Native American history curriculum. He holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and sociology from Illinois College and a Master of Arts in industrial and organizational psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
