Mayuko Toyota is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the Sanseito party. After graduating from the University of Tokyo and Harvard University, she worked as an official at the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. She was first elected to the Diet in 2012 as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and served as a parliamentary secretary. Following a high-profile scandal involving her treatment of staff in 2017, she left the LDP and lost her seat in the subsequent election. After a period working in social welfare and as a media commentator, she returned to national politics in 2026 as a representative for Sanseito, where she currently serves as the party's Policy Research Council Chair.
