Seitaro Hattori is the Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, currently serving his second term. A career bureaucrat, he joined the Fukuoka Prefectural Government in 1977 after graduating from Chuo University. Throughout his long administrative career, he held key positions including Director of the Finance Division and Director of the Welfare and Labor Department before serving as Vice Governor. In 2021, he was elected as the first career official to rise through the ranks to become Governor of Fukuoka. Hattori focuses on regional economic development, including the promotion of the semiconductor industry, the establishment of financial and asset management special zones, and the revitalization of local businesses. He is also actively involved in disaster prevention, child-rearing support, and the promotion of renewable energy projects such as hydrogen infrastructure.
