Dame Meg Hillier is a British Labour and Co-operative politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Hackney South and Shoreditch since 2005. A former journalist and local councillor, she held junior ministerial roles in the Home Office between 2007 and 2010. Hillier is highly regarded for her parliamentary scrutiny work, having chaired the influential Public Accounts Committee from 2015 to 2024 before being elected chair of the Treasury Select Committee. She was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2021 for her political and parliamentary service.
