Michael Chong is a Canadian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for the riding of Wellington—Halton Hills since 2004. A member of the Conservative Party, he briefly served in the cabinet of Prime Minister Stephen Harper as Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of Sport in 2006, resigning over his opposition to a motion recognizing the Québécois as a nation. Known for his advocacy of parliamentary reform, he authored the Reform Act, which was passed in 2015 to empower party caucuses. Since 2020, he has served as the Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, where he has been a vocal critic of human rights abuses in China.
