Michael Ziemons

Michael Ziemons is a German politician and academic who has served as the Mayor of Aachen since November 1, 2025. Before his election, he held the position of Head of the Department for Social Affairs and Health for the Aachen City Region starting in 2019. An educator by profession, Ziemons holds a doctorate in pedagogy and previously served as a professor at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences North Rhine-Westphalia. He is also an experienced coach and supervisor who founded the Institute for Applied Research in Education.
