Mike Hurley

Mike Hurley is a Canadian politician who has served as the Mayor of Burnaby, British Columbia, since 2018. Born in Northern Ireland in 1958, he immigrated to Canada in 1983 and spent decades working with the Burnaby Fire Department, eventually serving as a Vice President of the International Association of Fire Fighters. Running as an independent, Hurley was elected mayor in 2018 on a platform that included opposition to local housing displacement policies. He was re-elected by acclamation in 2022 and continues to advocate for municipal autonomy regarding housing density legislation.
