Mike Zimmer is an American politician and education professional currently serving as a member of the Iowa Senate for the 35th district. A member of the Democratic Party, he was elected in a special election on January 28, 2025, to fill the vacancy left by Chris Cournoyer. Prior to his legislative career, Zimmer worked as a teacher, coach, and administrator in various eastern Iowa school districts and served as the president of the Central DeWitt Community School Board. He is married and has five children.
