Mikio Suzuki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Koshu, Yamanashi Prefecture. Born in 1951, he began his political career as a member of the Enzan City Council, serving three terms. He later served four terms as a member of the Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly, where he held the position of the 124th Chairman of the Assembly. In 2020, he was elected Mayor of Koshu and was re-elected unopposed in 2024. During his tenure as mayor, he has focused on social inclusivity, notably introducing a partnership oath system for same-sex couples in 2021, a first for the prefecture.
