Misako Izu is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Munakata in Fukuoka Prefecture. Born in Munakata, she graduated from Kyoto Women's University and initially worked in the private sector, including at her family's long-standing sake brewery. She entered politics in 2011, serving two terms as a member of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly. In 2018, she was elected as the first female mayor of Munakata and has since secured re-election, currently serving her third term in office.
